The Finca

Typical “Dehesa” plains

El Encinarejo is just over 1000 hectares and is made up of typical “Dehesa” plains, beautiful valleys as well as sheer cliffs making it an incredibly diverse estate. The finca is home to numerous animals including Red Deer, Fallow Deer, Wild Boar, Imperial Eagle, Golden Eagle, Black Vulture, Griffons vulture, Genet, Badgers, Otters as well as many other species of wildlife. Our two apex species on the finca are the world renowned and critically endangered Iberian Lynx as well as the newly introduced European Bison.

Conservation Projects

Saving and repopulating the critically endangered Iberian Lynx

With the comprehensive care and management of CBD-Habitat as well as the support of the Junta de Andalucía the Iberian Lynx in the  Sierra de Andujar have made an incredible comeback. We are proud supporters of this project and are actively involved in the daily management of the Lynx and their natural habitat.

El Encinarejo has recently once again made headlines in the press with the rewilding of the European Bison in Andalucía. The finca became the first private property in Andalucía to reintroduce European Bison as a free roaming semi-wild species. We strongly believe that the Bison will add value to the natural landscape and change the vegetation on the finca in a positive manner. We currently have a full-time research and monitoring program in place which we gladly welcome our guests to take part in.
