Our Story

High-end eco-tourism

El Encinarejo was purchased in April 2019 by the Hohne and Murdoch Family. Upon arrival on the finca in November 2018, Alex and his father Jahn Hohne immediately knew that this is where they wanted to plant their roots. El Encinarejo was purchased to untap its hidden potential and in the first two years the farm was transformed from a classic Andalusian hunting finca into a global bio-diverse destination for nature and humankind to merge. The emphasis for the finca was always on how nature could be the priority and how the family could help improve the eco-system. It is important that value is added to our natural world in a sustainable way, hence the idea of introducing high-end eco-tourism into this unique unspoilt property.

Goal

We want you to fall in love with nature

Our goal at El Encinarejo is to create moments that you, our guests, not only recall as some of your fondest memories but that also change the way that you see and interact with nature and wildlife. We want you to fall in love with nature and while you might come to see the lynx, by the time you leave you might have found a new passion in the birdlife.

Community

Community is a key aspect in our daily running of the finca

Community has been a key part in our development in the Sierra de Andujar. From the construction on the finca, our staff, our contractors as well as the few food items that we cannot produce ourselves on the finca, we make sure we do everything as local as possible. We also have many collaborations with local companies in order to help each other provide the best local offerings to our customers.

Sustainability

Sustainability is core value of ours at El Encinarejo

We are currently undertaking many new projects such as a 5000 tree reforestation project, a comprehensive shift to renewable power as well as the organic eating initiative. The menus that we prepare primarily consist of vegetables and fruit from the veggie gardens and ethically harvested venison from the finca.
